# Deleting your account

Version 2026-10-19

How to close an account, what goes, and what has to stay.

## How

Closing an account is done in the app, from the account settings, by the person who holds it: You, then Settings, then Account and identity, then Close my account. The app says plainly what it will remove before it does anything.

Nobody closes an account because somebody else asked, so nobody can be talked into closing yours.

If the law requires your data to be erased and you cannot reach your own settings, for example because you have lost every device the account knows, write to privacy@kinkeu.com. Such a request is checked carefully before anything is done, so that nobody else can use it against you.

## Your Keys

Keys are a licence to use features inside KinkEU, not property, and they end with the account. When an account ends, for any reason, the Keys left on it are not refunded and not paid out. They are shared out automatically, at random, among other members, as the terms of service say. An account closed for breaking the terms keeps its Keys frozen for 365 days, or for as long as an appeal is open if that is longer, and gets them back if the closing is undone. If you want to use your Keys, use them, or ask for the withdrawal of the Keys you may withdraw, before you close your account. Nothing here removes a right the law gives you and does not allow to be removed.

## What goes

- your profile and everything on it
- what you published, including media
- your messages, from your side
- your devices, so none of them can be used to sign in again

## What stays, and why

Some records cannot be erased, and this is the honest list rather than a vague sentence about legal obligations.

- the record that consent was given, and the record of which version of which legal document was accepted. Their whole purpose is that they cannot be quietly changed afterwards
- the records of Keys bought, spent, paid between members and withdrawn, because the law requires payment records to be kept
- the record that an account existed and was closed, so that the same address cannot be used to claim the account was never here
- anything held because of a legal obligation to preserve it, for as long as that obligation lasts
- reports other people made, because they are that person's record and not yours, and a report that vanishes when the person reported closes their account is a way of erasing the report

What stays is the minimum, and none of it is used to build a profile of you.

## A message somebody else received

A message you sent is also in somebody else's account. Closing yours removes your side. It does not reach into theirs, because their record of a conversation they were part of is theirs.

## Changes

This document carries a version. When it changes the version changes, and a translation is published only when it is complete.
