# How each part works

Each part below says what should happen, in the order it happens. Then it says what to do when it does not. If you are stuck on something not listed here, the error message itself carries a reference code, and the last part explains why that code is the useful thing to send us.

## The order it happens in

Four things, in this order. You answer the age question once. You give an email address, and we send a code to it. You type that code back. Then the app offers to make a passkey so that next time is one step, and you can say no and keep using codes for as long as you like. At the end of that you have an account and nothing about you is public.

## When the code does not arrive

Check your spam or junk folder first, because codes land there more often than anywhere else. A code works once and only for a few minutes. If you ask for a new one, the old one stops working immediately, so always use the newest message and ignore the earlier ones. If nothing has arrived after a few minutes, ask again rather than waiting: it is the same code path and asking twice costs nothing.

## If you deleted your passkey somewhere else

Your passkey is kept by your device or your password manager, not by us. If you delete it there, we have no way of knowing, so the next sign in fails and it looks like the site has forgotten you. It has not. Sign in with an email code instead, then make a new passkey inside the app. The old one is gone for good and nothing can be recovered from it, which is the point of it.

## Signing in on a new phone or computer

Start with an email code, because a passkey lives on the device that made it and the new one does not have it yet. Once you are in, make a passkey there as well if you want one. Having a passkey on two devices is normal and neither one weakens the other. Your old device keeps working, and you can see and remove your devices from inside the app.

## Why you were asked your age

This site shows adult content, so we have to ask before you come in. We ask once, on your first visit, and your answer is kept on that device only. It does not record who you are and it is not connected to your email or your account. If you clear your browser data, or open the site in a private window, we have nothing to read and we ask again.

## The reference code on an error

When something goes wrong, the message carries a short reference code. Write it down or photograph it. Sent to us, it lets us find that exact event out of everything that happened that day, which turns an unrepeatable fault into something we can actually read. The code holds nothing about you: no email, no account, nothing that identifies you. Without it, something that went wrong once is very hard to find again.
