# Legal documents

These are the documents that govern being here. Each one has a version and a date, and you can read any of them right now without an account and without agreeing to anything.

## What these are for

They say what you are agreeing to, what we are responsible for, and what we are not. That last part matters more here than on most sites, because there are real things we cannot do: we never handle money, so we cannot refund anybody, and we do not know that anybody is who they say they are. Reading these is how you find out where we stop, in the words that would actually be used if it were ever argued about.

## Every document has a version and a date

Nothing here is undated. Each document carries a version, so it can be pointed at exactly, and the version you accepted is kept with your account rather than only the fact that you accepted something. If you ever need to know what you agreed to, the answer is a specific document and not the current one, which may have changed since.

## When one of these changes

A new version gets a new number and a new date, and the old one does not disappear. If a change matters to you, you are asked about it rather than finding that you have already agreed by continuing to use the site. Small corrections that do not change what anything means are made without asking, and the version number still moves so you can see that something did.

## You can read these without an account

Every one of them is open on this site, in your language, before you sign up for anything. No document here is behind a login, a payment or a tick box. If one is not translated into your language yet, you are told that plainly and offered the English, rather than being shown a page that mixes the two.
